Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with volunteering in the community. One of the first things he did is to help his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. Another reason for his football career was that his father was the only of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in the entire nation. He was awarded two championships as well as the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
