Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on 13 February 1979) is an American actress fashion designer and model. Following a brief time modeling fashions her career quickly shifted to acting by appearing in guest roles on television shows like Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. Her film debut was in 1997's dramatic Nowhere. Her performances were in American Beauty, for which she won the BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie made her the focus of a wider public attention. She has appeared alongside American Pie's Co-Star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the lead character in Sugar & Spice (2001). Her appearances were in the independent drama Spun as well as the 2004 action feature Trauma. In 2004, she starred in HBO's series Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors ' Guild Award for 2005 in the category of Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008 she appeared in a string of films which included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the adaptation film to The Garden of Eden. Suvari is featured in a variety of blog and fashion publications like Vogue. She's a Lancome model as well as appearing in the advertisements printed for Lancome Paris Adaptive. She has been an activist as well as a longtime supporter of the African Medical and Research Foundation. The organization is also active in issues of female empowerment and works with organizations that help raise awareness about breast cancer as well as women's rights and the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
