Rodarius Marcell Green[2] (born on August 27, 1998), known professionally as Rod Wave, is an American artist and rapper. [3][4][5] He is known for his strong voice and the blending of R&B and hip-hop,and has been recognized as a trailblazer of soul-trap.Wave became famous with the 2019 single "Heart on Ice" which became a viral hit on YouTube as well as TikTok and peaked at 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at the top of the charts at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. "[8]" Wave's second album called Prayer 4 Love (2020), placed at the top of the Billboard 200.[9The album also contained the hit "Rags2Riches", that had a peak at 12 in the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), was released at the top of the Billboard 200 (marking his first album that reached the top of the charts). Wave's professional work began in 2016 with the launch of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Wave released several mixtapes by himself prior to joining Alamo Records. The mixtape PTSD was released on the 14th of June, 2019. It contained the hit song "Heart on Ice". The track was a hit on YouTube, TikTok and reached 25th on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut album of Wave, Ghetto Gospel, was released on the 1st of November 2019. It peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. Rod Wave's sophomore album, Pray 4 Love, was released on April 3 of 2020. It was released at the 2nd spot on the Billboard 200, with a Deluxe edition to follow the 7th of August. 9 of the songs on the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) came in at number 12 on the Hot 100. It became his most-charting song. 14. On August 11, 2020, Wave was included on the XXL's 2020 freshman class. Wave made an appearance in July 2020 to reveal that he was making his third album. This was originally planned for August 27, 2020. Two years later, he revealed the track list of the album SoulFly in an interview with the 6th of March in 2021. [16][17] He also included songs "Street Runner", and "Tombstone" and "Tombstone," which was his highest-charting single and peaked at the top of the charts at 11 on the Hot 100. In 2021, in the late part of 2021 the release of his track "Nirvana" caused some controversy because many regarded the track as a suicide note in which Wave has strongly denied. [20]
